Tonight, I painted the stairwell- all that I could paint, that is, until I ran flat out of masking tape. Tomorrow I'll run to Home Depot and pick up a bit more paint and more tape; that should about do it. I hope I can get a 1/2-gallon can of paint. It's too hot to do much but stay inside, directly under a fan, sipping cold butternut squash soup directly from the box and playing some WoW. There are two clean loads of laundry that need to be folded and stored, but I'm just not up for it this morning. Yesterday was church, a piano lesson, grocery shopping, bill paying, cleaning, and movie watching. Despite a packed Sunday, we both had fun for the first time in over two weeks. There weren't many people in church, probably because of the snow, but afterwards we had a pre-Lenten brunch of pork and sauerkraut. It was delicious enough to inspire me ( Read more... )

Today's Home Depot trek was quite productive. For slightly over $100 I was able to get a 6-foot Douglas Fir tree (wrapped and tied to my car, no less), a lovely jacquard tree skirt, a cast-iron tree stand, a nutcracker statue, two poinsettia plants, two more of the Glade Apple Cinnamon candles I'm addicted to, and a Swiffer Wet-Jet starter pack ( Read more... )

During a break from teaching, I went to Target and picked up (gasp!) three Christmas stockings and two wreaths to spiffy up the joint. It's a small start, yes, but it's a start.
